What would you do if you won $200,000 (after taxes)?
I want you to really think about it. If you had that much money overnight how would you spend it the next day and weeks/months to come? Knowing that it will eventually run out what would be the most important things to pay for right now? Im just wondering the point of views of other people. I was fantaszing it would happen to me earlier and its been on my mind for a while. I am in a bad situation in my life right now I dont even have a place to live. And I guess I was juts hoping something good will happen to me and bail me out of this mess. Oh that would be so great! LOLGod knows I sure do need all I can get. Anyway I am very interested in all your answers and curious to know what you would write. In case you are wondering what I would do with it you can read the following:
For me it would mean:
1.) Buy a place to call home for me and my daughters…..$10,000-$15,000. (I just want a nice mobile home that is decent and pretty. I know most of you think its lame but honestly i dont see anything wrong in that. Some of them are really nice!)
2.) Furniture and decor for my place……$7,000-$9,000 (I love to decorate and I think I would do a good job on this budget.)
3.) Pay off my car……$9,000 (Its about to get repossesed
I wish I could just throw the money in thier face and tell them to leave me alone.)
4.) Pay off all other debt like student loan, credit card, and collection bills….$10,000
5.) Pay off my mother’s bills and debts as well as my sisters….$20,000
6.) Help my sister pay off her house……….$25,000
7.) Buy her a used car in great condition….$5,000 (She wont mind)
8.) Help out my family in Mexico……………$7,000( My poor people they are suffering over there.)
9.) Help my closest friends………………….$20,000
10.) Take a few vacations……………………$10,000 ( I can make 2 happen on this budget. I would go to Hawaii and Seattle with my mom and daughters)
11.) Help animals and children through donations……. $20,000
That would leave me with $50,000 and I would save this for as long as I can and probably live off of this for a while until I find a good enough job that would keep us stable. I wouldnt go spend it all crazy because I would regret it later although I would really want another car a NEW one but for what? I already have a decent one I just need to pay it off ya know?
If this would just happen to me I would be the happiest woman in the world knowing that I everything will be ok! I wouldnt exactly have finacial freedom but i would have peace of mind! Maybe it wont last a life time or a LONG time but I know we would be ok because I would spend it responsibly. Oh gosh, and one of the best parts of this expirience would be that my daughters’ father will have his jaw wide open for days! He kicked us out and spend the little bit money we (mostley mine that me and my daughters recieve from welfare) had on liqour and other women. He even traded our food stamps for cash. It would be so awsome if I was just blessed this way somehow and just throw it all in his face. Actually I wouldnt even talk to him about it. I would change my number and stay as far away from him as possible. Go to the courts and prove he doesnt care about the kids and he would just be trying to get in for the money. I wouldnt give him any because he is untrustworthy a womanizer and an alcholic. We need it more. He left us the way we are. Im sorry thats a whole other subject. Im sorry I write too much. LOL You didnt have to read it all just the top part. I just got a little carried away I guess. My bad! Ok thanks everyone in advance!
Pay off my bills, buy some property in other states, TRAVEL, and put some in savings for my kids.

I may be getting scammed but I cannot figure out WHY?
OK so here is the setup. I come home from work one afternoon to find an Express Mail Envelope leaning against my front door. Upon opening said envelope I find only one thing; a completely legitimate check with water markings, security stripe and all the other security measures utilized on your standard business check stationary or whatever.
Anyways, this check was from a business called Sand Dollar Auto out of Galveston, TX. Address, phone numbers and all your necessary contact information was included and plainly exhibited on the front-top-left-corner of the check. As well as the check numbering which read 1205.
2 things stood out at me as odd right off jump street.
#1. Besides the $3,100 dollar check made out to my FULL including MIDDLE name, there was not a thing in the envelope. This was a big FedX or UPS type envelope and there was not even a post it note explaining either why I am owed this money, how and why I WON this money or why I was chosen to be LOANED this amount of money. Which if I am not mistaken are your two most common reasons for receiving an unexpected "check" with a large sum of money written out to you. There was nothing on the check stating that if you cash this check you are obligated to payoff the loan blah blah blah.
#2 Now this may not even matter. This could very well have something to do with the postal service but I found it odd. As I mentioned above, the check supposedly originated from Sand Dollar Auto out of Galveston. But the return address on the front pointed to one Kurt Markham out of Los Angeles, California. Why? Does it matter? Maybe not.
I know this post is getting long and I like it even less than you but there are 2 more aspects that I must convey to describe the whole situation properly.
#1. A decade ago I was a dumb, naive 18 kid out on his own with no guidance what so ever. I had just purchased a 1999 (Brand Spankin’ New) Mercury Cougar. I put about $12,000 dollars down on this car that sold for $24,000 dollars approximate. I paid for half the car up front bottom line. I made about 6 months of payments and then one night I let a friend use it, he wrecked it. Not totaled, not even really serious. But the car was not drivable. I had a one way ticket to Oahu, Hawaii departing 2 days from the wreck. I had my car towed to the nearest car dealership, planning on dealing with this over the phone, having them fix it and sell it for me. I NEVER did talk to that car dealership. Over the years I never forgot the car but I did become wiser and I started to realize that I had equity, for the most part, in that car. But I had no idea how I would go about getting any money from it at that late in the game. Oh and I was in South Padre Island, TX at the time of the wreck and the towing to the dealership. SPI is maybe an hours drive from Galveston. Maybe longer than that the point is it is close.
So is it money from the sell and profit of that car that they are obligated to pay me before the dealership can receive their funds or something? Some kind of title law maybe? This is what I hope against hope it is because my family desperately needs this money. BUT……
#2 I was laid off from my job about 5 months ago and have not been successful in the job hunt. Therefore, I decided to try and drum up some work by placing an ad on CraigsList and several other similiar sites under their Services heading. IT Professional, Computer Guru and Network Specialist, I proclaimed in my ads. A few days later I recieved an email from a lady who supposedly lived in the UK. She had 20 laptop computers that she needed cleaned, a list of 5 to 6 software programs installed and updated to current status. She would have a shipping company send them to me and pick them up all paid by here. She stated they had just lost their guy who used to do this for them and was in need of someone badly. She made it even more sweet with the promise of a profitable future relationship and other friends who need similar things done and the introduction. I actually had no clue what to charge her and came here and posted my question on how much I should charge per computer. I’m sure you can find the question around here somewhere. With answers in tow I shot her an email stating that I could do what she asked for $50 per unit. Long story short she made everything beliveable, I had won the bid and that all she needed was my Name Number and mailing address and what form of payment I would take. I wrote it all out nice and neat and stated that I would only take a certified cashiers check, no personal checks. I never heard from her again, until about a week later when she must have accidently sent the exact same beginning email seeking a bid on 20 computers, the guy they used to have left and blah and blah and blah.
So I ask could she have something to do with this check that mysteriously arrived on my doorstep? If so why the hell would anyone send a check like that. I am not a dumb 18 year old a
I know about scams. My wife thinks it is like a computer virus. The creator of the virus can not witness the pain he causes first hand but still he gets off on it somehow. She thinks that someone probably did it to get our hopes up and then send them crashing when we realize the check is fake. To that I argued, Why would someone pay the 5-10 $ for the express envelope just to send us a fake $3,100 check.
Now I called the numbers listed on the check and reached a legitimate sounding ANSWERING MACHINE stating that Sand Dollar Auto was closed for the weekend of the 4th. So I took the check to my bank and deposited it, the teller told me an 8-10 day hold would be placed until availability of funds could be determined.
The bottom line is that this $3,100 check could literally buy me time to find a job. Our home is one step away from foreclosure and this check, if really mine, could keep a roof over my children’s heads. But regardless of the answer, I just need an answer. Thanks in advance
Usually these checks have language on the reverse side in the endorsement area written in faded small point type that will limit your options or bind you to some agreement that is more fraudulent than legal. I’ve gotten similar checks from car dealers where the fine print says the check amount is good for a discount on a car purchase at the particular dealership. If you look into it,you may be getting $3,100 off your car purchase on a car whose price has been inflated to more than $6,000 over the blue book recommendation. You can inquire with the consumer protection department of your state attorney general, but I would not do anything until I was absolutely sure of the gift, loan or repayment or whatever this may be.
Insecure or misunderstanding?
I have been married now for three years to my wife. We are both on our second marriage and carry a history of being unfaithful to our significant other, but have never cheated on each other. We have a two year old child in which we truly adore. I have tried being a prefect father and husband and have tried to please my wife in every way possible. We had a huge disagreement four months ago in which I threatened to leave her which really messed her up, and I don’t blame her. We agreed to seek counseling to save our marriage. Our counselor suggested she take three hours a week for herself and not to worry about thing. So I supported that up until last week. She has a female coworker whom she really enjoys spending time with during and after work. We have opposite work schedules and spend no time together. When I first met her female friend, I observed her looking at my wives butt a lot and refused to comment to my wife. Lately, she has been spending from four to six hours with her every Friday. I suggested for her to stop since I got a bad vibe from her the first time I met her. He friend walks like a man, talks lie a man, dresses like a man, drives a 4X4 high lift truck, ARMY 4 years, owns a motorcycle and guns and the list goes on. I have noticed my wife lying to me when she is with her, says she got home earlier that what she really did, does not answer her cell phone or replies to my text message, her behavior in general is different towards me when she is around by not being affectionate or kissing me around her, sits on the opposite side of the couch at home when she visits. Last week she decided to invite her to her family dinner with out asking me. That’s when I noticed more changes. They took a lot of smoke breaks/restroom together, my wife usually serves me tea but served her instead, kept telling out daughter to stay with me and her uncles, wanted me to serve her friend food, held her hand asked asked, “R U cold”, friend offered to install a DVD/Surround system worth $5K for her car, loan $15K for her education, I’m sure I’m leaving other stuff out as I’m shaking right now from anger. I confronted them both that night and said this had to stop, in which my wife defended her and said I was over exaggerating. So the nice dumb as I am gave in and said, “Fine, I don’t have a problem with you hanging out” her response was, “K we are going to Hawaii next weekend”. She is really pushing my buttons and I don’t know what to do. I want to save this marriage. I have not been home because I know it will get ugly. We have a meeting this Monday with our counselor and I can’t wait that long. I have gay and lesbian friends and this is not the issue, I know how delicate you can be. Can some one please advise?
I am have been at work this whole time and my heart is pounding hard right now. I’m trying not to accept it. I did schedule an emergency meeting with my counselor yesterday. She could not see us both since I was on fire and thought of horrible things. I could not sleep Friday and was awake for 31 hours yesterday. I have been awake all night, thinking and trying to get a grip. I thank you for responding so fast! I do want to save my marriage and will wait till Monday in hopes of a positive outcome.
Yesterday I visited her brother in which he commented being uncomfortable with her friend since she was too masculine looking. She tucks her shirts in her pants. Do you think I should stay away from home till I can get a grip? My hands are still shacking and I don’t want to loose it.
I am afraid this is your fault my friend. You threatened to leave her and threw her security off balance. The counselor told her to spend some time for herself and she is. She needed to find a friend, a support group, a way of being an individual just in case you decide to go. And she found this woman from work is all of those things. You are upset because you should be those things to your wife, but she can’t trust you to be there emotionally for her. Even if this friend is a lesbian, is your wife? I don’t think she is cheating with her and you should just step back and let her find what she needs to feel safe again.

VA’s Home Loan Program is for veterans and active duty military personnel (referred to as veterans throughout the rest of the document) and certain members of the reserves and National Guard. VA’s program provides an excellent product and benefit for those individuals who have served or are serving to protect our families and our nation, as well as giving them a form of financing that will allow real estate professionals to sell more homes.
For those who are unfamiliar with the program, there are several advantages to using VA’s Home Loan Program. The VA allows a veteran who qualifies income and credit-wise to purchase a primary residence without putting money down towards the sales price, as long as the sales price does not exceed the appraised value. Veterans do, however, need money towards closing costs and the earnest money deposit, which the seller generally requires when a sales contract is signed. Closing costs may be paid by the seller, which is an item to consider when the sales price is being negotiated.
Other benefits of using VA’s program (other than the 100% financing of the sales price) include:
•Loans are assumable, provided the person assuming the loan is qualified.
•Veterans’ closing costs are limited by VA.
•Additional assistance is offered by VA should veterans have problems making their home loan payments in the future.
•Prepayment of the loan without a penalty.
Here are some quick facts you may find useful concerning purchase transactions:
•VA does not have a maximum loan amount. However, lenders do sell loans on the secondary mortgage market, so they will generally limit loans to $417,000 ($625,500 in Hawaii, Guam, Alaska and U.S. Virgin Islands) with no down payment. With a down payment, loans may exceed these amounts.
•The veteran does have to qualify income and credit wise.
•The veteran does have to occupy the home as their primary residence.
•The veteran does not have to be a first time home buyer and may reuse his/her benefit.
•The lender, not VA, sets the interest rate and discount points, so they may vary from lender to lender.
•There is no private mortgage insurance, but VA does charge an up front VA funding fee, which may be financed. The exception to this is that if a veteran is in receipt of VA service connect disability payments each month, he or she does not have to pay a VA funding fee.
•The seller can pay for closing costs. There is a requirement that seller concessions do not exceed 4%, but only certain items are considered as part of the concession; i.e., payment of pre-paids, VA funding fee, payoff of credit balances or judgments on behalf of the veteran, funds for temporary buydowns (not discount points).
•The veteran is not allowed to pay for the wood destroying insect (termite) report; it is generally paid by the seller.
•VA does not approve the majority of loans. The majority of transactions are handled directly by the lender with little VA intervention.

Who will Reimburse me of expenses due to Wells Fargo error and oversite?
I had applied for a loan, Wells Fargo had receive all banking accounts, retirement accounts, savings accounts, W-2"s. I applied online I received a Pre-Approval/Priortiy Buyer letter, my agent said I should now start looking for a home, she new I was looking in Hawaii. I spent money for inspections, my hotel, car rental, dog boarding, food and gasoline. I spent $4468.55 on this trip, 7days before closing I was contacted by Wells Fargo, my current agent had left and I was assigned a new agent, Wells Fargo stated Amy Gooch and Wells Fargo had made a mistake on the paper work and could not lend me the money. I’ve contacted CEO’s and VP’s in the Co. Region, I received a form letter stating I would not receive the loan, ok, fine with that, what about the $4468.55, they refuse to give me that back after their mistake, do I have a leg to stand on or should I contact a my lawyer? And if anyone knows anyone from Wells Fargo, I’d like to set-up an appointment with them to discuss this matter
This is a tough one, because many times, applicants are "Pre-approved" as you state you were, and then later denied the loan they were applying for.
Pre-Approval only means that you met the minimum requirements for approval, but you haven’t been completely approved yet, because the company still needed to screen your credit for other things. It’s very often that pre-approvals end in denials for loans or credit.
So because you made purchases before actually being formally approved for the loan, you’re going to have to eat that one. Unfortunately, the company never approved you for the loan before you made those purchases, so you don’t have a leg to stand on with this one.
Try to find another loan that will cover the $4468.55 you spent before you were approved.
